
Jessica Ann Simpson Johnson, born on the 10th of July, 1980, is an American actress, singer as well as entrepreneur and philanthropist. Simpson at 17 years old at the time, began her career singing in choirs at church. The singer signed with Columbia Records in 1997. Sweet Kisses, her first studio album, was released in 1999. The album sold two million copies in the United States. She also was a commercial hit with her hit single "I Wanna Love You Forever". Simpson changed her look to be more mature for her second album Irresistible (2001). The album's title track was her second top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified it gold. In This Skin (2003) the third studio album by Simpson, sold three million copies across the United States. Simpson was well-known for her friendship with Nick Lachey and her wedding to him. Simpson also appeared on the reality television show on MTV, Newlyweds, Nick and Jessica between 2003 and 2005. After the release of her first Christmas album ReJoyce: The Christmas Album (2004), which was certified gold, Simpson made her film debut as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard (2005). She also sang a cover of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" for the soundtrack of the film. In 2006, she debuted her fifth studio album A Public Affair and appeared in the romantic comedy film Employee of the Month. Simpson began to move into country music following the release of her sixth album, Do You Know (2008). Simpson also launched The Jessica Simpson Collection, a fashion-focused line that offers 34 categories of products. It's been the most successful celebrity license brand in history that has more than $1 billion of sales so far. She also starred on the reality show The Price of Beauty in 2010 and judged fashion designs in two seasons of Fashion Star between 2012 and 2013. Simpson is married Eric Johnson and has three children.
