Rauw Alejandro

Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It went on to become the most streamed song at the time within six month. It was a blend of pop and reggaeton that not only drew attention to Latin music but as well reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish predominantly, as well as four songs in the year 2016. In the midst of Despacito's fame in the year 2017, there were 19 predominantly Spanish songs that were included in the Top 100. And in 2020 there were 41. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix of Despacito (2017) well-known musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake and Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna together with Maluma for Medellin (2019). Certain reggaeton performers expressed their displeasure at the rise of popular music by 2020. But a newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the development and growth of reggaeton. It often blended elements from electronic dance music and other styles.
